Packaging and Labelling

Q: How do I read the expiry code date?
To ensure product freshness and optimum product flavour and texture we advise that you follow the best before date on all our packages.
Example: 091101 – this means best when used before November 1st, 2009

Q: What material is your packaging made of and is it recyclable?
The majority of Dare packaging is made from 100% recycled fibres and can be recycled.
The packaging on our Dare Ultimate cookie bag is laminated paper and can be recycled with your plastics.

Allergens

Q: What is your allergen policy?
All ingredients are declared within the ingredient statement. However, we encourage consumers with food allergies to check this statement found on each package for the most current ingredient information because product formulations can change at any time. The packaging also calls out allergen information by stating “Contains soy, milk, wheat and egg ingredients”, for example.

Q: What is your Peanut Free Policy?
In early 2004, Dare completed changes to become a peanut free manufacturer. Products that are made in Dare's peanut free locations are identified by the line "Manufactured in a Peanut Free Facility" on the package. We encourage you to check information on the package every time, so you are able to make informed decisions.

Additionally, Dare has worked with suppliers on several of our peanut free products, including Bear Paws and Breton Minis, to ensure they are peanut free in production of our ingredients. A logo on the front panel is your assurance of this measure. Again, please check the package for this logo. Please see our list of Peanut Free products.

Nutritional and Ingredient Information

Q: What are trans fats and how do they affect me?
Dare has many products available without trans fats (see specific product information) and is committed to continue developing new products without trans fats.
To make foods that stay fresh longer on the shelf or to get a solid fat product (e.g. some margarine), hydrogen would be added to polyunsaturated oils, creating trans-fatty acids, or trans fats. In clinical studies, trans fats tend to raise total blood cholesterol levels. They also tend to raise LDL ("bad") cholesterol and lower HDL ("good") cholesterol.
Please see our Nutritional Benefits Chart for a complete list of No Trans Fat products.

Q: What type of gelatin is used in your products?
The gelatin is an animal source and is derived from pork.

Q: How do I know which Dare products are Kosher?
All of Dare's Kosher products bear the Kosher certification mark. Please see our Nutritional Benefits Chart for a complete list of Kosher products.
