Dare Foods Limited has put in place the last piece in their goal to reshape their Supply Chain on a National basis

Kitchener, March 8, 2006 – Dare Foods Limited announced today to their associates at the Megacenter in Montreal, and those in Kitchener, their decision to consolidate their Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic order filling activities with the same commercial partner who has been providing this support in Western Canada for the past year, Schenker of Canada.  This agreement establishes a single supply chain on a national level.

After these changes are implemented in July 2006, the company will realize tremendous benefits in the model of a single, integrated, national supply chain through lower inventories, reduced clearance costs and enhanced customer service.

Inevitable consequences of this business decision are that the majority of distribution activities in Kitchener will cease and that the Megacenter in Montreal will close its doors on July 21, 2006.   "This decision was not easy to make, because we recognize and acknowledge the impact this will have on all affected associates", declared Fred Jaques, President of Dare Foods Limited.

The Montreal Megacenter associates will receive post-employment support packages in excess of both the collective agreement and the legislation.  Because the Kitchener facility is covered by a single collective agreement, most of the warehouse team will have the opportunity to find alternate jobs within manufacturing.  Those who may not have enough seniority at the time will be placed on temporary lay-off, awaiting recall as jobs become available.

"This decision is in no way a reflection of the commitment, dedication and contributions of these associates. This decision is very much a reflection of the continually growing need to provide superior customer service and flexibility in an increasingly competitive and demanding marketplace" said Mr. Jaques.
