Caramelized Figs with Spiced Ricotta
Ingredients:
1 cup of ricotta
1/2 teaspoon of freshly grated or powdered nutmeg
2 teaspoons of granulated white sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 firm but ripe figs, sliced in quarters
2 teaspoons of brown sugar
12 Cabaret or Vinta crackers
Preparation:
In a small mixing bowl, add the ricotta, nutmeg, white sugar and cinnamon. Stir to combine. Arrange figs on a baking sheet covered with a piece of aluminum foil. Sprinkle brown sugar over figs and broil until sugar has caramelized and figs are warm. Spread crackers with the ricotta mixture and top crackers with a warm fig slice. Serve immediately.
Helpful hints:
Try with Reduced Fat Breton and low fat ricotta to make this treat a non-guilty pleasure.
