We are looking for an Assistant Brand Manager to join our marketing team.  This individual will work with an experienced and passionate team of marketers and Agency partners in driving our business with first-class brand-building, innovation and integrated business planning.

Our head office was relocated in 2018 from Kitchener to Cambridge and is a modern work environment connected to our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

This role works on the Canadian Fine Breads & Deli portfolio, consisting of Boulangerie Grissol, Lesley Stowe raincoast crisps and La Panzanella and will report in to the Brand Manager, Fine Breads & Deli.

Job Overview:

The successful applicant is a consumer-focused marketer who can initiate, analyze and action consumer insights and market facts to drive business growth and profitability. Your passion for consumer marketing will be coupled with your proven ability to execute plans on strategy, on time and on budget.

As a developing marketer, you will lead the thinking and execution of specific elements of the marketing mix and the portfolio’s priority projects.  You will also assist the Brand Manager in short and long-term brand planning.  You are developing a strong Marketing technical skill set and can lead cross functionally to assist in bringing winning new products, packaging and consumer programs to the market.

You are a curious, creative and insightful thinker, and a dynamic communicator. Your creativity and problem-solving skills paired with the ability to work independently and in a team will allow you to lead your projects throughout the organization with success.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Brand Strategy & Communication – Develop and assist in leading the execution and brand strategies for assigned portfolio including integrated communication, media and marketing plans focused on 360-degree campaigns.
  • Analysis and Insights – partner with consumer insights to monitor consumer and competitive trends across the market. Take insights to provide recommendations on maximizing growth opportunities.
  • Reporting - prepare business analysis and reporting, utilizing internal and external data (i.e.: Nielsen), gather and analyze relevant market data to identify key performance drivers, opportunities, potential threats for the brands/segments and action insights as required.
  • Innovation & Renovation – Driven by industry trends, work closely with Research & Development and cross-functional subject matter experts to develop innovation pipeline and renovation plan to achieve both short- and long-term business objectives.
  • Support/co-manage artwork and SKU/merchandising development
  • Cross Functional relationship – Working with internal and external partners lead teams to manage projects and delivery business objectives.

  • Effective communication – in writing, verbally, and presenting
  • Analytical skills and a creative mindset – AC Nielsen experience an asset
  • Our brands and business with a clear understanding of our consumers
  • 1-2 years of assistant brand management experience, preferably at a CPG company
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in business/marketing or related field
  • Previous experience in a digital marketing and/or social driving brand growth would be welcomed
