Human Resources Administrator

Full Time + Cambridge, ON

Our Corporate office is in Cambridge Ontario. We have been located in the Kitchener area since the family’s original store opened in 1892.

We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Human Resources Administrator to join our production team at the Cambridge facility. In this role you will be responsible for the coordination of operational activities that span across several HR functions including but not limited to recruitment, orientation, administration of the collective agreement, benefits, maintenance of employee information as well as support and communication, reporting and auditing.

As the first point of contact for employees, you enjoy working with people and are able to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner and possess strong administrative skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Follow collective agreement and provide support to plant/distribution supervisors in labor relations matters.
  • Facilitate the recruitment process for hourly personnel necessary for the proper functioning of operations including but not limited to developing and coordinating job postings, interviews, reference and background checks, and orientation
  • Supporting Corporate Human Resources for maintenance of benefits and pension programs – providing enrolment materials, change notifications, completion of  disability/absence applications.
  • Support workforce planning with weekly payroll management, employee records in payroll software and training.
  • Assist and support management regarding work accident files.
  • Manage and follow up on absences and disciplinary files.
  • Work with Payroll daily to ensure accurate pays
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized and detail oriented with a focus on accuracy
  • Able to manage multiple requests and projects within required timelines
  • Participate in various committee meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, Social Sciences, Psychology or a related subject.
  • Have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Human Resources
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Strong leadership skills and people skills
