About the job

We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Human Resources Generalist to join our production team at the Ste-Martine plant. Reporting to the Plant Manager you will be responsible for assisting in the management and coordination of operational activities that span across several HR functions including but not limited to recruitment, orientation, administration of the collective agreement, benefits, maintenance of employee information as well as support and communication, reporting and auditing.

 

As the first point of contact for employees, you are able to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner and possess strong administrative skills.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Follow collective agreement and provide support to plant supervisors in labor relations
  • Participate in renewals of collective
  • Facilitate the recruitment process for hourly personnel necessary for the proper functioning of operations including but not limited to developing and coordinating job postings, interviews, reference and background checks, and orientation
  • Support and maintenance of benefit and pension programs – adding or modifying employee options as it relates to health and dental, disability/absence management, and company pension plan
  • Support workforce planning with weekly payroll management, employee records in payroll software and
  • Management of work accident files and advise the team in the application of the various standards and regulations in
  • Manage and follow up on absences and disciplinary
  • Maintain and update information in HRIS system (Dayforce) including – new hires, status changes, employee information
  • Work with Payroll daily to ensure accurate pays
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in French and English
  • Organized and detail oriented with a focus on accuracy
  • Able to manage multiple requests and projects within required timelines
  • Participate in various committee

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, Social Sciences, Psychology or a related
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the HR
  • Previous experience working in a unionized
  • Must be bilingual (French and English).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience in HRIS systems, preference will be given to those who have worked on Dayforce
