Plant Manager

Permanent, Full Time + Kitchener and Milton, ON

Dare Foods Limited, a leading Canadian manufacturer and distributor of quality biscuits, crackers, fine breads, confectionery products, and portable snacks, is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual with a strong passion for food to join our organization.

Plant Manager 

We are currently looking for two Plant Managers, one for our Kitchener Bakery manufacturing facility and the second for our Milton Confectionary manufacturing facility.

For both positions we are looking for an individual with previous CPG manufacturing experience in a fast-paced environment to join our manufacturing team.  This position is accountable for managing the overall results our manufacturing operation, while strictly adhering to Food Safety and Quality requirements. The Plant Manager is responsible to ensure that  the plant operates using good manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement Best Practices across all functional areas
  • Identify staffing requirements for both salary and hourly positions
  • Preparing and execute the budget, as it relates to production costs.
  • Oversee and review production costs, labour utilization, yield, along with opportunities for cost improvement initiatives
  • Ensure manufacturing runs efficiently and at the highest safety and quality standards
  • Setting and delivering operating budgets
  • Develop systems and processes to optimize productivity and surpass performance targets
  • Leading and motivating all employees to achieve expectations and targets set for the facility
  • Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives

 

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma post-secondary education in food science, business, engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferably CPG
  • Minimum of 5-7 years in management role with strong leadership experience
  • Strong understanding and experience in working manufacturing environment complimented with professional written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen including decision making ability using various analytical tools
  • Passion for Health & Safety and Quality
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Previous experience in a union facility would be considered an asset
