Quality Assurance Coordinator (14 month contract) – Cambridge Bakery

Full-Time + Cambridge, ON

Dare Foods Limited is a private, family owned portfolio of brands established in 1892. Quality Assurance Coordinator (14 month contract) – Cambridge Bakery

 

This role will be based out of our Cambridge manufacturing facility and will be responsible for quality activities on the afternoon shift, in addition to supporting the overall development and maintenance of the site Quality Systems. The successful applicant for this opportunity has knowledge of SQF and/or other GFSI, knowledge of HACCP, is a strong communicator, highly organized, and capable of working independently or in a team environment. This role will also include any ad-hoc activities required of the Quality Department and may require work on off-shifts as well.

Responsibilities:
  • Own site GMP program
  • Verify daily production batch documents
  • Host daily Food Review, and participate in Daily Production Meeting where required
  • Administer Hold and Recall programs
  • Perform and coach Technicians on daily and weekly quality testing
  • Maintain Quality and Sanitation Programs, and HACCP/SQF documentation, complying to all Regulatory, Corporate and Customer requirements and specifications
  • Perform internal audits and lead site Quality Audits
  • Complete training on HACCP, Quality & Food Safety, Food Defense, etc.
  • Lead cross functional Food Safety Team, holding team members responsible for follow-up and corrective actions
  • Investigate and respond to all critical consumer complaints and provide monthly statistical data
  • Other activities that arise daily pertaining to the safety and quality of our products
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Food Science Technology/Engineering or related field
  • 3 – 5 years relevant working experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Broad range of experience with Operational Systems and GMP Programs
  • Strong knowledge of SQF or similar GFSI programs
  • HACCP and Food Safety practical and theoretical knowledge
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Quality Individual)
  • Strong technical writing skills, with experience developing Quality Programs
  • Knowledge of the principles of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing would be considered an asset
  • A history of meeting and exceeding challenging performance goals; a desire to “win”
  • Ability to perform tasks effectively both individually and as a member of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, specifically Word and Excel to manage and analyze quality data
