Quality Coordinator, Kitchener

Permanent, Full Time + Kitchener, ON

Dare Foods Limited, a leading Canadian manufacturer and distributor of quality biscuits, crackers, fine breads, confectionery products, and portable snacks, is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual with a strong passion for food to join our Kitchener Manufacturing team.

 

Quality Coordinator, Kitchener

This role will be based out of our Kitchener manufacturing facility and will be responsible for quality activities on the afternoon shifts. The successful applicant for this opportunity has knowledge of SQF and/or other GFSI, knowledge of HACCP, is a strong communicator, highly organized, and capable of working independently or in a team environment

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own site GMP program
  • Back up to Quality Systems (responsible for SQF, HACCP and PCQI)
  • Verify daily production batch documents
  • Perform and coach Technicians on daily and weekly quality testing
  • Maintain Quality and Sanitation Programs (i.e. recipe control, document control, allergen validations, EMP program, swabbing, etc..), complying to all Regulatory, Corporate and Customer requirements
  • Lead cross functional Food Safety Team, holding team members responsible for follow-up and corrective actions
  • Administer Hold and Recall programs
  • Host daily Food Review, and participate in Daily Production Meeting where required
  • Investigate and respond to all critical consumer complaints and provide monthly statistical data

 

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • College or Bachelor degree in Food Science Technology/Engineering or related field
  • 3 – 5 years relevant working experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Broad range of experience with Operational Systems and GMP Programs
  • Strong knowledge of SQF or similar GFSI programs
  • HACCP and Food Safety practical and theoretical knowledge
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Quality Individual)
  • Strong technical writing skills, with experience developing Quality Programs
  • Knowledge of the principles of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing would be considered an asset
  • A history of meeting and exceeding challenging performance goals; a desire to “win”
  • Ability to perform tasks effectively both individually and as a member of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel to manage and analyze quality data
