Ingredients

  • 1 box of Breton Original crackers
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 (300 g) package semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1⁄3 cup chopped nuts

Preparation

  1. Completely line 13x9-inch (3.5L) baking pan with foil.
  2. Arrange a single layer of crackers over bottom of pan.
  3. Arrange a second layer of crackers to cover spaces between crackers in first layer. (It will be necessary to break some crackers in half so that the entire bottom of pan is covered.)
  4. In medium saucepan combine sugar and butter. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil.
  5. Remove from heat; pour evenly over crackers in pan.
  6. Bake in 400F (200C) oven 5 minutes. Remove from oven; sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  7. When chips are soft, spread over top.
  8. Sprinkle with nuts.
  9. Chill until chocolate is set.
  10. Break into pieces to serve.
  11. Store in refrigerator

Pro Tip

For an extra layer of flavor, sprinkle a touch of sea salt over the chocolate chips before they set, enhancing the sweet and salty contrast in this delectable dessert.
